Moodboard for action.
This moodboard shows film posters of action films. I have created this moodboard to show visual elements from the same genre. All of the posters show some action either holding a gun or doing a gesture to show some action.
All of the posters are mid shots to show physical elements and the background to show the action side of the film.
On the other hand another thing I picked up on is on the film covers it is mainly males on the cover except from 3 or 4 of them the rest are males showing there physical attributes.

Action Genre Research
A breif history of Action.
Film analysis:
Rocky:
This is the first Rocky film made in 1976. In this film series Rocky Balboa is a struggling boxer which is waiting for the chance to make it big and become a professional boxer instead of a struggling boxer. Heavyweight champion Apollo Creed visits Philadelphia to fight a struggling boxer and he fights Rocky Balboa. Apollo Creed is meant to win the match easily as he is a heavyweight champion for boxing however his opponent has this one chance to make it big as he is a struggling boxer.
The genre action was born in 1920s. In the 1920s the genre action was called "adventure". As years went by there were more and more variations. In the 1960s the legendary James Bond films launched. James Bond takes a big place in action genre as it inspired modern day action films.
Some notable action films:
Rocky
James Bond
Transformers
The Expandables
Batman Dark Knight
These notable films have notable actors;
Sylvester Stallone
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Jackie Chan
Daniel Craig

Me and my media partners first draft was The SPOT. This was based around a drug dealer and his freinds. The freinds murdered an enemy, so all freinds came together to have an drink of alcohol to celebrate the death of the enemy. Me and my partner thought this will be our ending product however we came to a conclusion that it wasnt really good. The cinematograhy wasnt great, the lighting in the scene wasnt great, the viewers couldnt hear the dialogue and also the story line wasnt great to.
So we kept this as a draft and done another opening scene which because we knew what was wrong with our previous one we knew what we have to improve so this helped us on making the new one better then previous one.
The easiest part of this opening scene was it was a easy story line so there wasnt much work put in also it took only 3 hours to record. On the other hand the hard bit was it took a really long time to edit as there was alot of videos to edit from.
Furthermore the opening scene was 3 minutes 28 seconds however it was meant to be 2 minutes but this one was way over. The reason why it was 3 minutes and 28 seconds is because we took long to record each scene. If we cut anything the whole opening scene wouldnt of make sense.
Also some other things were wrong with the video, the opening credits were wrong also it was to basic, it was all one font and it was covering some bits. For example the costume design was a very big font and it was in the way of the actors.
On the other hand the camera was not still in some bits of the video for example in the establishing shots the camera was not still because I didn't use the tripod. The focus of the camera wasn't great which affected the cinematography.
Another thing that we done wrong was we had the logo of the film coming in to quick it even came before the production company. In many other film openings the logo does not come in till later. The logo coming in really quick made our video unprofessional.
In conclusion all of these mistakes made us realise our faults and what we can do to improve to make a better opening scene.
Action film Title analysis
The credits have been placed in such way so that the credits dont distract the viewers attention. The credits are similar to my film opening. They are in corners and they are well placed.
List of the titles in order
- Distribution company's
- Production company
- Other company's associated with the film
- Name of the person who has came up with the idea of the film
- Name of film
- Name of the people in the cast
- Casting director
- Line producer
- Visual effects supervisor
- Director of photography
- Production designer
- Re-recording mixer
- Supervising sound designer
- Editors
- Executive producers
- Produced by
The credits are all in the same colour, white. This is better for the viewers as it is a bright colour and the viewers can see it well.
Cast and Dream cast
My dream cast is the whole set from The Expendable's but that will be to much to ask for. I am going to put 2 actors and a director I would love to work with.
One of the actors is Jason Statham. Jason is one of the greatest actors I have watched he is great at his job. Jason Statham is suitable for my film because it is a action opening scene and Jason Statham is a great action film actress.
On the other hand another actor I would love to work with is Dwayne Johnson also known as The Rock. Dwayne Johnson is a really good actor as well as Jason Statham. However there is a difference between Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham you can play Jason Statham as a bad guy however Dwayne Johnson is always the good guy!
A director I would love to work is Justin Lin. Justin Lin has directed great films like Fast and Furious and I think he would be a great director for my opening scene.
Change of Genre
Me and my Media partner has decided to change our genre as we have decided that action comedy is a hard genre to apply. We have decided to do action instead of action comedy. Although all of our research was based on comedy we came to a conclusion of changing the genre.
Action-
Action films include a hero that goes through challenges that includes fighting, violence and chases. Action films generally include a character struggling against all the odds (generally including life threatening situations).
The reason why we have decided to change our genre because we decided that action comedy is really hard to apply and the draft we have done wouldnt have worked as it didnt make anyone laugh except from the people that knew us. We decided that we could make a better action opening scene.

Age Rating
I have decided with my media partner to make our film opening a age rating 15. The reason why we have chosen to have the age rating 15 is because due to the British Board of Film Classification a 15 year old is allowed to:
